The Long Awaited News Arrives

My friend, Ravi who is himself a road tripper and an ardent long distance cyclist told me about this self drive road trip to London about 3 years ago. Priti and I were completely floored by the very thought of it. Since then I have scrounged the internet for any information that I could get to turn this thought into reality. 

We narrowed down our option to Adventures Overland (AO) for fulfilling this crazy dream of ours but Covid took away 2 years of life from all of us. 

We kept in touch with AO and in July 21 went on a "trial trip" with them to Ladakh. We had a great time and were happy that we chose to travel with them. Sometime in the latter half of 2021 we came to know that the Road to London (RTL) trip would happen in April 2022. Excitedly we bought a Toyota Fortuner in October. But events around the world kept pushing our trip further. It was a disheartening time for a few days but the travel bug had bitten us and we did our 2nd sojourn with AO and joined their Jordan expedition in early March 2022.

Finally on 31st March, the long awaited email from AO came with the news that RTL 2022 is happening from August 14 to October 7. We paid the deposit on 2nd April (Gudi Padwa) and confirmed our participation.
