The Route

Let me give you a glimpse of what we are planning to do. 

Our car has been shipped to the port of Bandar Abbas in Iran. We will fly there to retrieve it and start driving. The convoy consists of 10 cars.

Driving across 20 countries over 15000 kms from Iran, we plan to reach the UK in 55 days. The route includes the following countries:

Iran – Turkey – Bulgaria – Serbia – Hungary – Slovakia – Czech Republic – Poland - Lithuania - Latvia - Estonia - Finland - Norway - Sweden - Denmark - Germany - Netherlands - Belgium - France - UK

We cover anywhere between 300 to 800 kms per day and our typical day starts post breakfast and ends after sunset.  

All of us have CB radios by which we are in communication with each other. Each car is given a number and the convoy rolls in that order. AO has 2 cars - the lead car and the sweep car (last). The participants are always in between these 2 and this ensures our safety and security which in my opinion is the one of the most reassuring aspects of travelling with them.

There are chai and toilet breaks (the politically correct word being "bio break") every few hours and lunch is in the late afternoon. The best time is in the evenings where all of us re-group for dinner often accompanied by music and chit-chat.
