Day 17 - Sofia

 Day 17 Tuesday August 30

The Grand hotel in Sofia is located in the heart of the old town. It seems to have been built by the Soviets. It has large passages and a maze of corridors.

I have been learning to play the keyboard since February of last year and was quite intimidated by the 2 Steinway Grand pianos in the lobby of the hotel. The lobby manager agreed to let me try my hand on it. It was like driving a top class Mercedes Benz as compared to a Maruti 800 (my Casio keyboard)!!!!!

I hope my music teacher, Rajan Sir, will be proud of me.

Maria is a local guide who took us on a walking tour of the lovely town of Sofia. I felt welcomed in the relaxed and easy atmosphere. Like most old European city centers there are gardens, churches, fountains and cobbled streets. We learnt some history of the city from Maria. Rather than write about it, let me show you glimpses of this beautiful place.
