Day 26 - A Lovely Drive to Lithuania

Day 26 Thursday September 8

A new day, a new country. Today we go to Vilnius in country # 11, Lithuania.

Taking the scenic route and avoiding the highways, we passed through fields, meadows and two lane tree lined roads. What a wonderful drive it was.

Lunch was at Tabaczarnia restaurant in a small village, Giby.

We lost 1 hour on entering Lithuania as we are on Moscow time and now 2.30 hours behind India.

On the way we saw the Trakai Castle which is on an island in Lake Galvė. There was some kind of music festival going on with live music. A few people sitting on bean bags were enjoying the show. We too joined in for a few minutes.

We reached Hotel Radisson Blu Lietuva in Vilnius at 7 pm and were welcomed by Alkas Paltarokas of Vilnius Lifestyle (A page 3 guy of Vilnius, he knows everybody who is somebody. He is the Karan Johar of this place) and Darius Saluga, President of the Lithuanian Sports Federation. They were very excited to know more about our road trip and spent half an hour with us.

Later we walked to Sue's Indian Raja restaurant for dinner. Our bodies are so well designed that they get accustomed to the 45o C sweltering heat in Bandar Abbas just a few days ago to the chilly 9o C in Vilnius in a very short time.
