Day 28 - Rumsiskes and Riga

Day 28 Saturday September 10

We went a bit over the top yesterday as we had walked around Vilnius for more than 7 hours and were totally exhausted. We slept early and I woke up to a stiff neck and a dull pain in my shoulder partly due to sleeping teda-meda and the hotel's very soft pillow. Applied Volini spray and took a painkiller and now we are ready to roll.

Some people from Vilnius City Council came to meet us as we were leaving and did a quick Flag Off Ceremony for the convoy.

On our way to Riga, Latvia (country # 12) We drove through Rumšiškės town and visited a part of The Lithuanian People's Household Museum. It is an open-air museum founded in 1974. It shows the architecture, culture, household and horticulture of the cultural and historical regions of Lithuania. There are 140 buildings and 91,420 exhibits spread over 194 hectares, it is one of the largest ethnographic museums in Europe.

We then did a quick photo stop at the confluence of the Neris and Nemunas rivers at Kaunas city.

Lunch was at a restaurant in Panevezio and after fueling the cars, we checked in Hotel Radisson Daugava at 6.30 pm
