Day 32 - Hello Scandinavia

Day 32 Wednesday September 14

Bidding goodbye to the Baltic states we sail into country # 14, Finland, Scandinavia. It's drizzling while we boarded the ship called "Star" of Tallink Silja shipping company. The 10.30 am sailing will take 2 hours to cover a distance of 82 kms from Tallinn to Helsinki in the Gulf of Finland.

The massive ship can carry 1900 passengers, 520 passenger beds and 450 cars. We parked and went to the lounge on the 9th floor and played dumb charades and had some snacks, coffee and soft drinks. Srivijay is a bubbly, jovial and fun guy from Bangalore who is the youngest member of our group. We celebrated his birthday on the ship.

We disembarked and drove to our Hotel Indigo Helsinki - Boulevard, parked our vehicles and went for lunch to Istanbul Grilli. In the evening Priti and I walked to the main station and revived memories of our visit to the city in 2018.

Dinner was at Kantipur restaurant where the group along with Tushar on the guitar wished Srivijay a very happy birthday. His parents gave chocolates to each of us and it felt like "back to school" days when we got gifts from the birthday boy.

Today we have sailed for 82 kms and driven the least distance of 9 kms in our journey till now.
