Day 42 - Descending from the Arctic Circle

Day 42 Saturday September 24

On the 2nd day of our “Endurance Test”, we descended south from the Arctic Circle @66ºN which we had crossed into at Rovaniemi on the Day 35 of our trip.

On our way from Fauske to Trondheim, marking the Arctic Circle is an odd UFO-shaped structure that has a cafe and souvenir shop. An enormous wooden troll presents a good photo opportunity.

We reached Trondheim and checked into the palatial Hotel Britannia which features in the Leading Hotels of the World. There are marble bathrooms and art adorns the walls throughout. It has 4 restaurants, one of which is awarded a Michelin star. Truly a lavish place.
