Day 43 - Atlantic Road and 100 Tunnels
Day 43 Sunday September 25
As we start from Trondheim on Day 3 of the "Endurance Test", it is foggy and for a short while the visibility is reduced to about 100 metres, the temperature also dips to 5º. Our bodies have now acclimatized to the cold, we look at the temperature and if it is in double digits, we do not put on our jackets but say, "Oh, it's getting warm now!!!!!" It is fascinating that we will soon get used to the hot weather once we return back home.

The stunning landscape is food for our souls. Take a peep into some of the sights that we saw while on the way to Alesund.
We drove on the The Atlantic Road which is a designated National Tourist Route. It connects Averøy with the mainland via a series of small islands and islets spanned by a total of eight bridges over 8274 meters between Bud and Kristiansund.
By the way I mentioned earlier that we have been passing through many tunnels. One of our friends, Milind, has been keeping track of this and he mentioned that today we have crossed the 100th one since the beginning of our journey with more than 80 of them being in Norway. The shortest tunnel was 110 metres and the longest till now was 8.6 kms. Wah Wah Milindbhai, what a fascinating statistic that is!!!! 👏👏
Two ferry crossings later we reached Hotel Quality Waterfront, Alesund at 6.30 pm. Incidentally the hotel is just two buildings away from the place that we had stayed when we were here in 2019.
