Day 47 - High Tea with the Indian Ambassador

Day 47 Thursday September 29

After having breakfast, we walked past the Parliament which is right across from our hotel, saw the Oslo Opera House, the Central Station, Oslo Cathedral and did some shopping on the main Karl Johan street. We had a buffet lunch at Jaipur restaurant and came back to the hotel.

We have been invited for high tea by the Ambassador of India to Norway, Shri Bala Bhaskar. He along with his wife, Smt. Kavita Bhaskar received us at his official residence. The Ambassador is a graduate in Civil Engineering and has a doctorate in Economics. He has served in the Indian Embassies in countries like Saudi Arabia, Africa and China among many others. He interacted with us for more than 2 hours and was very keen to know our experiences of traveling to various countries and listened to us with great interest. He expressed his views on different aspects of governance of a vast and diverse country like ours which helped us to better understand the functioning of the government and the various challenges that they face. Later we had some Indian delicacies personally prepared by Mrs. Bhaskar. We thanked them for taking time to meet us and for their gracious hospitality. They wished us well for the remaining part of our trip. It was a memorable and enlightening evening that we shall cherish for a long time.
